This is a link post Mechanical battery, gravity battery.
Mr Testicles makes energy source from old grandfather clock bits.

This is a normal post correct me if i'm wrong
This guy is getting excited about what amounts to less than a milliwatt and calls that usable energy? And a big system he describes sounds like it would require a lot of energy to construct to the specs mentioned and the efficiency of covering the electrical energy off of solar wind whatever to mechanical for storage and then again mechanical to electrical sounds like a huge amount lost to friction etc.not to mention the requirement of suspending a ton of weight 7 meters up and then having it travel up and down safely.
Please correct me if i'm wrong andwhat this guy does actually makes sense.

This is a normal post not sure
I watched a video of Bill Nye suggesting pretty much this to generate electricity.

This is a normal post We already have gravity-based electricity generation ...
... it's called hydro-electric.

The clue is that in order to generate a useful amount of power you need to drop something weighing as much as a lake by the height of a massive dam! This guy's setup will generate as much power as you would expect - approximately three tenths of fuck all.
