How have they anchored that in the car so it doesn't get torn apart?

Maybe they wanted to just yank the door off and weren't expecting to take the whole ATM
but then the guy on his feet always seems to have a very good idea of where to stand to not get killed, as if it was planned to go that way (literally and figuratively).

They chose chaos.
Wonder how much damage they caused compared to the contents of the ATM.

I was thinking about that.
The pre-corruption cost to repair and replace everything damaged is many times lower than the prices eventually charged by greedy builders and retailers, and charged to insurance companies.
If they're lucky there'd be $20,000 in that machine, but my shallow research suggests smaller petrol stations tend to hold much smaller amounts like 2k-5k. They seemed to know what they were doing* in terms of planning the angles, who does what, when and how, so my guess is they knew when the machine got filled up.
*alternatively they're very lucky to not have died by flying ATM to the face.

Shame the guy in the shop didn't use a gun to prevent this.

I ran a petrol station single-handed when I was seventeen.
No ATM though.

How many attempted robberies did you foil by punching the bad guys?

Was the owner's policy on robbery for you (a minor) to endanger yourself and others in an attempt to stop the felons through violent means?
Or are you just that awesome and brave and hard without the need for instructions?

Automobiles were something of a novelty back then,
petrol stations still made half their money from horse feed.

Perpetuating the problem by being a pussy... maybe they should go work in a flower shop and leave 24/7 garages to big hard men with hairy balls, grizzly arses, and itchy trigger fingers. :D

I guess that's why the US is such a safe, calm and law abiding place with a tiny prison population.

One Friday 20 years ago I was working in the pharmacy at the back of the Co-op in Ormiston, a very quiet little place.
Drove round the corner to see the square surrounded by police, and this.
the daily client excitedly told me what had happened as I was getting out of the car, and then asked if/when/how he could get his methadone. I asked if he could wait until I'd actually got out of the car.
