Difference being that Patrick Moore was an astronomer, a damn good one, not a politician.
If we reject people wholesale for any views we find distasteful we'd all find ourselves hating pretty much everyone.The people who jump up to shout about this stuff are the same sad shits who love to call Nelson Mandela a terrorist.
Fine that people can't love Patrick Moore as a political entity, but I don't see why that should stop us celebrating his contribution to his field, his humour, or the fact that he got three generations of people interested in astronomy. His work in that had way more impact on the world than his silly political opinions in a book that those people so offended by him at the moment have probably never read.

She made everyone's life more miserable than it already was, destroyed communities and pretty much all the problems we have today can be traced back to her right wing nutjob government of the 80's. So many similarities.
