In case you don't want it filtered through the Guardian, you can read all 525 pages here; www.intelligence.senate.gov/study2014/sscistudy1.pdf
Truly astonishing stuff in there.

Some spastics still think we're fighting Saladin and trying to get the 'One True Cross' back.

They can have all the guns they want... Just as long as they aint got bullets.
I hope they don't figure you can hit people with the gun metal ;)

I don't care how many ball gags you have, or if you're the size of an airplane hangar in the back, I am monogamous.

The USA is some sort of beacon of democracy because some of the truth eventually got out. GO USA!
I can see why they ramped up security at their embassies. Considering how many CIA people use diplomatic cover a lot of people must be thinking they are fair game.

They can rest easy that the release of this report is not what people are pissed about.
The Democans ought to take heed too.
All that prattle about it happening under Bush means fuck all when you a) apparently didn't stop it, and b) didn't close Gitmo like you promised to do.

I was surprised that GW Bush didn't know about it, since those that released it kept saying "Bush Administration" so often. Guilty by association, I suppose.

September 12th 2001 you had pretty much the entire world on your side, even countries like Iran.
If it happened again tomorrow then even your allies would have to concede that you have it coming.

That somehow the presence of the US in the world caused people to kill thousands of innocent lives? And that any response undertaken to try to prevent the further loss of life exposes us to further attack?
It was not people like me in the middle of America who were the targets of Bin Laden, but the lifestyles of those on the coasts, financial, sexual and lack of religion. However, a great many in the middle of America have died to respond to the attack and prevent it from happening again.
I concede nothing on that point and if you justify attacks on thousands of innocent civilians, I pity you.

If I were to try and justify it (I'm not), I'd talk more about the decades of meddling with sovereign states in the ME. Something for which the UK would also deserve a fair share of the blame. Still, I don't think it's beyond the pale to point out that the CIA had happily been funding a lot of the same groups back when they were fighting against the Russians...
To say that America is now reaping what it has sown is simplistic to the point of silliness, but to chalk it up to a bunch of fundamentalists who hate freedom is just as pointless.

AQs main beef was with American bases in Saudi Arabia, but they probably would have found an excuse to attack the west even if they disappeared. Nobody misses Osama.
To say that America is reaping what it has sown is not only simplistic but inaccurate - no reaping has occurred, and it probably won't.
I was just pointing out that it would take about 200,000 people to make the books balance.

I was just playing devil's advocate. Personally I just think you're being intentionally inflammatory.

Nobody was justifying 9/11. They were a bunch of crazies who wanted western influence out of Saudi Arabia (and didn't give a fuck about your freedom).
If you think that a couple of thousand people justifies a decade of slaughter, torture and erosion of your own hard won democratic rights then I pity you. Where is your war on car accidents and rogue electrical appliances?
