Where Did It All Go Wrong?
Woocfot asks: Tell us all about that turning point in your life when it started going downhill. Yeah, that drunken conversation with my dad when he suggested I become a civil servant. Dammit, I could have been an astronaut

When I was younger I worked as an apprentice for a bit.
The guy I was working under never really gave me any respect. One day I was especially angry and lost it with him, and Star Wars

My performance review was fairly positive, though.
It was along the lines of "Goood, goooooood."

I was more going for whiny Hayden under smug Ewan, but I do recognise that for most people there were only three films in the series, eh readers?

I'm VERY UPSET that three films made over 30 years ago were recently expanded upon by the guy who owns them in an attempt to add more backstory and context.

Adding backstory and context is entirely acceptable.
Adding Jar Jar Binks isn't.

A quasi-racist accent, "look at me, look at me" screen presence and such a degree of stupidity and clumsiness that in any sane film he'd have got himself killed in the first few seconds?
I can't see what anyone's problem with him is. Of course, it is good to have the occasional comic relief character, what with it being a film series for both adults AND children.

Trying to kid yourself that Star Wars is anything other than a kids film is tragic.
George Lucas falls victim to this, hence all the intergalactic politics guff that clogs up episodes I & II.

He adds gravitas to the earlier films by not being in them
and makes the Ewoks look like fucking Shaft

Who's the small, furry hominid
that's a sex machine to all the other small, furry hominids?

Yeah, but it was a shit backstory
- Annekin originally build C3PO? Really? Even in a fantasy film, that's stretching credibility.
- Darth Vader, the ultimate bad guy, turns out to be motivated by... wait for it... not getting the girl. She rejects him, so he goes off in a hissy fit. Well that's mundane. Now, if he'd *chosen* the Dark Side over his girl/children, that might have been at least partly chilling.
"Sith" wasn't bad, though.
