When Animals Attack
I once witnessed my best friend savaged near to death by a flock of rampant killer sheep.
It's a kill-or-be-killed world out there and poor Steve Irwin never made it back alive. Tell us your tales of survival.

This time, it's teamwork
I *swear* this is true!
I may have mentioned our two cats - Friendly and Chainsaw.
Anyhow, one house we had, there was an old people's home next door. The woman who ran it had an Alsatian. One day, it dug its way under the fence into our garden. I'm somewhat scared of dogs, so I was very under-impressed. The cats came to my rescue!
Friendly cat did a very creditable impression of a poorly cat that was near death and easy to chase down... The Alsatian gave chase. I legged it for the house, and went up to my room to watch.
Friendly led the Alsatian a couple of laps around the garden. As I watched, Chainsaw leaped out of a tree and landed on the Alsatian's neck. Friendly spun round and piled in too. That dog took one seriously major pasting at their paws!
I lost sight of it as it tried to dig its way back through the fence.
It ran away a few days later, and was never seen again.
She bought another dog. The cats had that one sorted out in a couple of weeks too. It used to hide whenever the cats showed up.

and then there's......
Hercules!
It's not the size of the dog -it's the dog. I have a minature Fox Terrier whom my girls named Hercules and then claimed him as their own. Hercules has a problem with rats, mice, possums and cats which he loves to solve by killing them.
On walks in the fields he brings back mouse and rat bodies and lays them at my feet - all slimy and unchewed. In the forests he'll sniff out and hunt down possums (a truly nasty animal with long claws and muscular legs) and return bloody with the occassional deep scar but with tail held high. I've sewn (needle and thread) some massive wounds especially on the chest caused by the razor claws.
But his penchant is definately lulling cats into a false sense of security and then *bam*. Grabs them by the back or neck and then worries them to death. Big Toms, white Abyssian, ferral - all the same to him 'dead meat'. Yet he won't touch a kitten or young cat, he'll actually play with them and allow them to box and tease him.
My garden is full of birds and reptiles as no cat would dare jump the fence, many people remark on the amount of wildlife in our garden.
So bring your cats around and let Hercules have a play :)
