This is a question Annoying Partners

As a recent divorcee, it would be churlish to reveal what annoys me the most about my ex, apart from that unfortunate business with the crinkle-cut beetroot which tipped us over the edge. So, what winds you up about your significant other? If you have no partner, tell us about workmates. If you have no workmates, improvise with an annoying tramp

My wife
Is wonderful, lovely and perfect in just about every way.

Except that when she does the washing-up, she insists on using ten times as much washing-up liquid than necessary.

While I will give a light drizzle over a plate - enough to enable the hydrophilic and hydrophobic molecules to mix and wash off under running water with a brush - she will squeeze a huge great ejaculation of liquid onto a sponge, and half-fill the sink with the suds - for each and every item.

I have to speak to my bank manager every time I go to Tesco to stock up on Fairy.

But I should say again...
.. that I still love her to bits because she's the most wonderful thing that ever happened to me :)

Stick a bit of caustic soda in the sink with the WUL and let it soak for a while, that'll get everything REALLY clean.
Just make sure there's no aluminium or soft plastics in there, it'll knack them right up.

Stop buying Fairy.
If she uses that much, just buy the cheapest store brand going. It'll make no difference.

My use of "Fairy" in the last line was a case of elegant variation
Although we do sometimes buy it when there's an offer on, and the very cheapest store brands are not antibacterial.

Antibacterial?
WTF do you want that crap for? Are you washing in effluent?

Antibacterial?
*seethes*

But not the very cheapest, they're value-engineered to fuck and hardly have any active content.
An ordinary supermarket brand WUL will do the job just as well as a big-name brand - or better, now that some of the branders have cut down their actives to save money.

My school had a way of dealing with this
Dilution, massive dilution.

Buy one bottle and split it between about ten opaque empties. Top up with water. Instant savings!

Be sure to replce with a normal one when you have guests over. You don't want them thinking you're a tight-arse-weirdo.

as opposed to the kind of weirdo that has their guests doing washing up for them?

(, Fri 5 Aug 2011, 11:41, closed)
If I did that...
She'd know it was diluted, and therefore squirt as much is necessary in order to make up the difference :)
