You wouldn't say that if you'd ever flown Finnair...
Actually, I'm probably doing them a disservice here. They were by no means the worst meals I've ever eaten on a plane, that honour would probably go to Delta circa 2001. A small cup of orange juice and a frozen banana the size of my thumb does not constitute breakfast on either side of the Atlantic.

Or Continental?
On an internal flight from Chicago to San Fransisco I was given a tray that had on it:
1. Mini can of root beer soda
2. Small bag of "beef" jerky
3. Packet of technicolor puffed rice bits
4. Plastic cutlery(!)
I laughed out loud when the stewardess passed it to me and said I must have been given a child's meal by mistake. She scowled and just pointed to the (adult) passengers next to me who were tucking in to their identical delicacies.
I handed it back and asked for a bag of nuts instead as I tend to only eat things recognisable as food. She said in all seriousness that they'd "never had any complaints from Europeans before". Well bravo, sweetie.

Trolling was last week
But here's two tips for improving airline food:
1) Order a special meal. I usually go for Asian Vegetarian. Much better, AND you get served first!
2) Fly Austrian Airlines. They use Michelin-starred Viennese restaurants to supply the food.

I can safely say
that Virgin Upper Class and Emirates Business Class food are both very very good. Egyptair Business class food is on a par with school dinners....
