The best fish and chips
In the world is from a place called Zanres in Peterhead. The town is a complete shithole, populated by malevolent flocks of neds like shitspattering seagulls, squawking and mewling and trying to steal stuff, and cursed with a concrete monstrosity of a town square. But it is the biggest white fish port in Europe, and Zanres treats the fish with love. Great big fillets, big fat hunks of pearly white flesh, delicious batter, expertly fried chips, chunks of lemon, tangy malt vinegar. Magnificent!

The one in Peterhead is good.
The one they opened in Fraserburgh (Where I lives) is fucking horrific.
the best one was the one in Mintlaw, which they sold the other year. It won all kinds of awards. As has the Peterhead one.
Thomas glover's in Fraserburgh beats them all hands down.

I still maintain the best fish and chips I've ever had was at Inghams in Filey.

Zanre's is good
but the Bervie Chipper (Inverbervie, just south of Stonehaven) is the best.

Zanres in Mintlaw was the bollocks.
Best thing on the menu was the rice crispy burger, aka chicken in a bun supper.

My iPhone wanted to auto-correct this to "chicken in a bin". Clearly it's not forgotten the trip to the chip shop in Elgin...

Cadora?
Dreadful.

That's the one!
I didn't want to name and shame. Do they still have the menu on one of those 70s style pin boards?

I heard the best fish and chips was [tenuous reference to your mum] lololol.

I did a few adverts for them. What they have in cooking skill, they lack in art direction.

Ah, Peterhead
Isn't that where the t'interwebs, powered by Nokia, sent Alexandra Burke to do a gig as it was generally considered by the voting public to be the finest* place in the country?

Yep. She apparently "loved it" and is coming back again.
Apparently.
