This is a question Redundant technology

Music on vinyl records, mobile phones the size of house bricks and pornography printed on paper. What hideously out of date stuff do you still use?

Thanks to boozehound for the suggestion

I use the command line, and can type faster than my Unix-trained colleagues
I'm a Windows administrator, by training and profession, so most idiots would expect me to be stymied by anything that doesn't involve clicking like a retarded monkey with the mouse.

However, I can type faster and more accurately than my colleagues who come from a Unix (i.e. command line-only) background.

Frankly, unless I can grow a third arm so I can keep two hands on the keyboard instead of moving one between keyboard and mouse, interrupting the flow of my work, I'd much rather spend my time on the command line. That might be a legacy of my age and experience (first touched a computer 30 years ago, before mice were commonplace), or it might be simply because I'd prefer to be efficient and productive at my job, instead of hunting and pecking like a Ritalin-powered chicken.

Brilliant
''hunting and pecking like a Ritalin-powered chicken'' had me giggling like a mong on mushrooms.

My work here is done.

It's probably more to do with your typing experience than anything else.

I spent 3 years learning touch-typing at School, one of only 2 boys who did. And it's the one skill I use every single day.

I'm not sure if I can touch-type properly or not.
I never took proper typing lessons. I just picked it up as I went along.

I don't use all ten digits, just my thumbs, index and middle fingers, with my little fingers reserved for the Shift and Return keys. Occasionally my right-hand ring finger will hit the Backspace key. I don't start from the home keys, and I cross the TBG/YHN boundary with my index finger from each hand, depending on where the other hand is.

However, I can type accurately without looking down at the keyboard, and I can also copy-type with a fair degree of proficiency. While it might not win any praise from Mavis Beacon, does it still count as touch-typing? I'm really not sure.
