This is a question Redundant technology

Music on vinyl records, mobile phones the size of house bricks and pornography printed on paper. What hideously out of date stuff do you still use?

Thanks to boozehound for the suggestion

Damn you QOTW, damn you to hell.
I've shunned the idea of a Kindle ever since my housemate came back from America with a shiny new one. As she sat and extolled the virtues of it, I would raise one eyebrow thinking to myself,'Silly Septic, books aren't read from screens.'

This question of the week made me do a bit of research. I downloaded kindle for the PC, and now I want want want one. All the lovely books you can get. I must have one, but can you get one in Indonesia? Can you fuck.

Now everytime I go to Amazon, the picture of it sits there, mocking me.

Damn you QOTW, damn you to hell.

I wouldn't touch one.
after Amazon withdrew books that people had downloaded. I read books on my htc. the screen is small but when you get into the book I never notice. I've been reading all the old copyright free books (that amazon charge for!)

While I usually hate anthing which smells like DRM.
If if read around more you would find you can back the Kindle up to your PD, for example.
As for copyright free stuff -- you can just load it onto the device, so it's actually cheaper than paper.
Re comments above about reading on your phone etc.: I wish my eyes were up to that but the only way I'll get to read full books electronically is eInk.
(OK, I am still a little doubtful about the DRM so haven't bought one yet)

Amazon also has 100s of free older books. Plus if you know someone with no morals and p2p there are 1000s of books. I love my kindle, just bought my Dad one too.
Planning to bootsale all my books, and there are mountains of them.

A book will not crash unless you deliberately throw it at someone.

I've read the old Tarzan books on my ipod Touch
59p is a lot less than Amazon want for Kindle books. I've also got the complete Sherlock Holmes that cost me about £1.20. While I still much prefer proper books (see previous answers), I did a few train journeys where I could listen to music and read a book without adding significantly to the weight I was already carrying.
For serious reading, though, you can't beat a book.

My colleague has one. I played with it.
And I don't want one. It's a superb piece of gadgetry, but I'm not interested. I'd much rather have cumbersome paper. The tactile pleasure is all part of the reading experience.

Prior to the kindle, I had just bought the latest Peter F Hamilton book. This weighed about a kilo, and was a nightmare to carry around.
The kindle is the best thing I have bought in ages
