This is a question Books

We love books. Tell us about your favourite books and authors, and why they are so good. And while you're at it - having dined out for years on the time I threw Dan Brown out of a train window - tell us who to avoid.

Sci Fi at its best
Altered Carbon
Broken Angels
Woken Furies

All by Richard K Morgan. These books are gritty, stylish, hard and raw. Think cyberpunk crossed with detective crossed with a few shots of absinthe.

Anyone read his fantasy books?

I also
read Market Forces by him - not quite as good as the ones listed above but if you like his style you will enjoy it.

I liked those a lot, but...
...Market Forces left me cold. I never really bought into the main premise, and the rest of it came across as an extended play session of Road Wars.
