Norse is germanic
Old Norse is also known as old north germanic. English, Dutch and German and west germanic. These are all members (along with a bunch more) of the Germanic family of languages and descend from proto-germanic. The south east of england was mainly west germanic peoples, the northern parts mostly Norse/Dane (back in the day where they were pretty much the same thing).
I win the pedant game.
