"Have you
been injured in an accident that wasn't your fault?"

Is there a person alive who hasn't? I'd love to phone one of those ambulance chasing firms up and halfway through the call claim the phone-monkey startled me by speaking too loud and I'd dropped the phone on my toe.

No, I haven't.
I jumped over a railing, tripped, and fell to the ground, sustaining some bruises. It was my own fault.

I crashed my motorcycle and cracked some bones, and spent a week in hospital. It was my own fault.

I knocked my elbow against the edge of a door, bruising it considerably. It's still slightly sore a couple of weeks later. It was my own fault.

Who can I sue? I want some compensation, damn it.

IT baffles me that someone
can sue the council for a slightly raised paving slab, yet totally accept a cobbled floor.
