"Dago" is a corruption of "Diego"and, by extension, is a pejorative term for anyone Iberian...
I meant it in a friendly way, of course!

Ha!I had never heard it. It doesn't sound bad at all. I have quite a lot of good friends called Diego, so it brings good memories.
I have no idea where the word "guiri" comes from.
