Not a good thing to do
My other half is a debt collector and she deals with people on a daily basis who say they didn't get the letters sent to them or the phone calls made.

If you're at the stage where a debt collector is interested in getting hold of you, you will end up coming second. Keep ignoring it and you'll end up with large, friendly but very patient chaps on your doorstep with a copy of relevant paperwork.

My other half scares the life out of me and I don't owe her any money...

I would say that if you are getting calls from debt colleciton agencies
there is a reasonably good chance that they've made a mistake and are in fact just calling anyone with a name that sounds similar to yours.

Tell me
about it.

In fact I'm being chased for a debt for a tennent that lived in a flat before I did with a completely different name.

Now I've moved house, they are chasing him (me) here at my new place.
