Common
Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."
My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.
What stuff do you think is common?

Most of the people I know who have loads of tattoos and piercings
are metallers, not chavs. Are you actually a metaller and don't realise it? :)

I used to be......
But am a grown up lady with a husband and a baby and have no time for frequenting the local mosh pit. Also I nicked me hubby from one said metaller and don't think I'd be welome anyway.
Best gigs I ever been to were Korn in Londons Docklands, Perfect Circle in Southampton and CKY at Exeter Uni. CKY was the craziest, Korn had the most up the bum security you ever saw, kiddies were getting their spiked collards removed as they could be used as a weapon. WTF!

The people I know with piercings
are actually pretty solidly middle-class. Go 'round their house and Radio 4 is coming out of every orifice in the building, all day, every day. And the father is a Labour party member, or something like that. So I wouldn't count piercings, nor many tattoos, as being common. But that's just me. "Common" and "chav" are just labels, after all, and shouldn't be relied on.
