This is a question Complaining

I like writing letters of complaint to companies containing the words "premier league muppetry", if only to give the poor office workers a good laugh on an otherwise dull day. Have you ever complained? Did it work?

carpet price.... wrong...
I recently purchased a carpet for my landing and stairs.
During the purchase, the young lady in the store itemised the bill...
Price of carpet....
Price of underlay....
Price of this that and the other....
Delivery....
and as it is being fitted it to a landing and stairs there's a £35 charge
You also have to pay the fitter separately.... it's more than usual because its stairs.

Bof : So what do you do for the £35?
Shop : Well it's a charge we apply because it's being fitted to stairs.
Bof : But what do you do for it?
Shop :
Bof : Let me get this straight... You are selling me a carpet, I pay the fitter to cut and install it, so what do you do for the £35?
Shop : Nothing I suppose, it's just a char..
Bof : Right, I am just about to walk out if the door because I'm not paying it
Shop : Emmm... I'll have a word with my manager

Shop : We won't charge you for it this time.
Bof : Too right you won't. Not only will you not charge me for it this time, but should there ever be any other time, you won't charge me it either.

Bloody cheek.
The girl in the store was really quite helpful and sympathetic, and I understand that she was only following instructions... but who the fuck do these people think that they are?

Best bit of calm complaining I've done in a long long time. I must be mellowing in my dottage.

Good work there!
About 25 years ago we used to have a chimney sweep come out a couple of times a year. Talking to a neighbour, I found that he charged me more than he did her.

Next time he came out I asked him about the extra and he said it was an 'out of town' fee which he must've forgotten to knock off when driving onto my estate. The thieving bastard. Never charged it again!

I call them 'fee fees'
As a charge that applies to nothing other than that charge itself for the gaining the vendor a few extra quid.

With Carpet Right... here's a tip.
Get the name of the carpet fitter that Carpet Right use. Get the carpet fitter to order the carpet for you. You will find:

At least 10% off the price of the carpet.
Cheaper fitting.
No delivery charge as the carpet fitter will collect.
Complete lack of bollocks from sales staff.

They are utter cnuts for milking the client.

Or...
if it's completely necessary to have new carpets, avoid by a nautical mile Carpet Wrong, thieving cheap nasty evil rug munching scrotes the lot of them. The carpets are that cheap for a reason. Go independent. Recently had whole house fitted, (only small new build two bed semi) with thick underlay(£5.00sqm), 100% wool (£11.99sqm) loop pile carpet for £1200. Carpet Wrong wanted that for cheap ass 5.99sqm + underlay + separate fitting charge. They charge so much because they sell you so much more than you need, they don't measure accurately as it's not in their interest to get the maximum use of the carpet they sell you! Thieving bastards.

Thanks guys...
a bit late now, but salient advice for any reader of the comments.

The fitter did a cracking job (open plan stairs).
As per the amount they sold... I noticed in the van when they'd finished a rather substantial roll of the carpet and asked whether they had another job using the same carpet. No they didn't.
It was what was left over from mine... they suggested that it must have been the end of a roll and that I can have it if I wanted it.
Too bloody right I did.... even if I end up dumping it.

What I fancy tho is some way of edging it so that I can have rugs on my parquet flooring.
