This is a question The B3TA Confessional

With the Pope about to visit the UK, what better time to unburden yourself of anything that's weighing on your mind by posting it on the internet? Pay particular attention to the Seven Deadly Sins of lust, greed, envy, pride, posting puns on the QOTW board and the other ones. Top story gets to kneel before His Holiness's noodly appendage, or something

In my hometown...
Now that disabled badges are given away for obesity, they've had to extend the disabled parking at the local supermarket to take up seemingly half of the lot.

When I was there, a fat (but not fat enough) person complained that she had to walk ALL THE WAAAAAAAY from her car to the supermarket, a distance of about 20m.

Gaz ahoy.
Speak from experience. It means more than any combined shit we can come up with.

oh, ok
obesity shouldn't be classed as a disability, unless it's caused by underlying medical problems. giving disabled status to obese people is simply validating their lifestyle and giving them the green light to get even fatter. it's as if they're being rewarded for being fat, which is just ridiculous, not to mention dangerous. if i'd been mollycoddled like that when i was fat, i'd probably be dead by now. in england, the NHS are now trying to stop gastric band and gastric bypass surgery, claiming that people aren't even trying to lose weight, as they know they can have an operation to do it for them.
bollocks.
surgery is never the easy option, trust me. before you can have it done, you have to undergo a liver reduction diet, 2 weeks of sheer hell, where food is a distant dream. i lost over 2 stones in those 2 weeks, that's how drastic it is. many people don't even get that far but, if they do, they'd better stick to it, because the surgeon can tell if you haven't. they make it very clear that if they discover you haven't stuck to the liver diet, they'll sew you up, send you home and take your name off the list.
the operation itself, despite now being keyhole surgery, is dangerous, especially to someone large enough to qualify for it(b.m.i of 50+).
don't get me wrong, i'm not saying i'm perfect or anything. however, if i had to, i would drag my fat arse off the couch and do what needed to be done, be it housework, shopping, whatever. i tried, just not hard enough.
as i said before, surgery is never the easy option. for ten years, i deluded myself with the belief that i would "eventually" lose the weight myself. do you know what changed my mind? a car crash. i was too fucking fat for the seatbelt to fit me and i hit the windscreen, leaving me with quite a scar. if we were going any faster, i could easily have died.
i'm not sure what i'm trying to say here, i just know that giving fat people special treatment won't help them, just like bullying them won't. a delicate touch and a healthy dose of common sense and reality may, however, work.

My wife works for an insurance company
They had a fire drill and had to push fat people out on chairs cause they wouldn't walk. They also charge way more money for buying unhealthy foodstuffs in the cafeteria there. It's pretty ridiculous.

WTF?
if they're not willing to walk to SAVE THEIR OWN FUCKING LIVES, i say let the tubby fuckers burn!
(, Mon 30 Aug 2010, 20:08, closed)

And there's plenty of burnin' on them tubby fuckers!

I shall see what I can do in future for you.

I have sometimes wondered
....if you set a fat person on fire, will the fire become self sustaining quickly ,like a kitchen fat fire?

In Texas supermarkets...
...you can get supermarket trolleys attached to disabled car/scooter thingies, so as long as you park near the trolley park you can waddle to the trolley then drive yourself around the supermarket. As others have said, I can understand the medical need for this in some cases, but walk round a supermarket in Houston and you'll see literally dozens of the things. Almost as if they're encouraging people to be obese, by making it easy to cope with.

I just flashed
...on Wall-E. I now think that that's what Houston looks like.
