Because you chop it into little piecesthe yolk is just kind of crumbled in with everything else. It needs to be dry.
'course the real answer is that it's up to you. I'm not sure how a runny yolk would work in this salad, but there's nothing stopping you from doing it.

boil the egg it makes for a much fresher salad taste, also season your dressing or it will taste of nothing!
