This is a question Dad stories

"Do anything good for your birthday?" one of your friendly B3TA moderator team asked in one of those father/son phone calls that last two minutes. "Yep," he said, "Your mum." Tell us about dads, lack of dad and being a dad.

Mine died
over fifty years ago.
Never really knew him.
I feel empty, now, thanks for reminding me............

I'm sorry to hear that.
but, er, 'thanks for reminding me'? This is the world's smallest violin playing the world's saddest tune just for you. You are liable to run across the notion of fathers from time to time, and if it upsets you every time you do, well, boohoo.

It's true
Every time I see "Empire Strikes Back",
Every time anyone calls me "Daddi-o" (admittedly not often)
Every time anyone mentions "Pop" music.

Life is hard....

Actually, no, I'm not.

I wonder if that's what happened to my dad :(

.....
Do yourself a favour and make the most of what you do have
im going to generalise and say most of this worlds issues are because of people wanting things they havent got that either aren't theirs
or the desire to try to achieve or attain something that isn't going to make them any happier if they get it.
I can only say that because im guilty of it myself and because i have access to the superior dad knowledge (because im a dad)

Your dad died 50 years ago ?
I'd have thought you'd have come to terms with it by now especially since you hardly knew him. My dad died two days ago from lung cancer. (And BTW he never smoked a fag in his life.)

You have my sympathy
My dad died from lung cancer 7 years ago and sometimes it still seems like it only happened a couple of days ago. Losing your Dad is awful and it made me feel weirdly alone. Also left me feeling like I was finally an adult despite being in my thirties when he died. Strange times.

Is this supposed to be funny?
I never knew my father and neither did my younger brother -- my older brother still cries about it and he's not a young or sentimental person.
I infer that you're trying to be funny or you re a 59+ year old in urgent need of some help -- either way your post was unnecessary.
