This is a question Dad stories

"Do anything good for your birthday?" one of your friendly B3TA moderator team asked in one of those father/son phone calls that last two minutes. "Yep," he said, "Your mum." Tell us about dads, lack of dad and being a dad.

To counter that sad story....
The first time I looked after my son was when he was crawling - my (now ex) wife went out and we started getting ready for bath and bed - he crawled up the stairs and I followed.

I went in to the bathroom and looked back at my son - now proudly sat at the top of the stairs. Stairgate open - he then toppled sideways down the stairs - all 14 of them..... He was ok - we were both as traumatised as the other though...

One of the first times I looked after my daughter, she didn't fall down the stairs, but I did drop her. On her head. True story....

I have, since then, opened the car door in to my son's face, shut his fingers in a door, dropped my daughter off the couch, nudged her in to a door... To name but a few.

I'm a great Dad me!

My daughter has never gone down the stairs
She has however fallen down the back of sofas, oh and I once cut the end of her thumb off whilst demonstrating to my wife how easy it was to cut a baby's fingernails. That bled for a bit!

Nothing tells your kids "I love you"
Quite like shutting a car door on their hands.

Oh...
I'm not allowed to cut my daughter's fingernails any more as I, apparently, cut them too short - What's a little redness between family.

Spoken like a true Austrian DIY enthusiast!

This morning
My daughter told me that I was rubbish at brushing her hair - she has very curly and knotty hair and the brush we use is really old and perfect for her hair but it does snag a lot - Mummy is gentle and teases the knots out whereas I go for the pull really hard until the knot breaks free....

Shave her head.
It's the only way to be sure.

Alternatively, if she's young enough, give her some chewing gum, and wait for her to wonder what it would be like if she wrapped it in her hair.

It's what I did as a kid and it worked a treat. Well, if your idea of "working a treat" is having your head shaved getting a spanking and no supper, but I certainly ended up bald for a while.
