Temporary paralysis
Every so often I sleep in a position that cuts the blood flow off to either my arm or my leg. This results in the blood starved limb to go completely numb and unusable.

It's usually my arm and for the first few times it was a bit of a novelty: for any of you who have seen Gone In Sixty Seconds I was able to try out "The Stranger". It doesn't work - numb arm/hand = no grip.

My leg going numb has only happened a few times but the results are always spectacular. I'll sit up, swing my legs around, step out of bed and end up in a cursey/sweary pile on the floor. This is particularly fun in the middle of the night when you need the toilet and twice I have had to drag myself across the floor to the bathroom because my damn leg wouldn't work.

I get this sometimes
Its quite an odd feeling. I usually swing my legs out of bed, gradually stand up and move the weight onto my dead leg, that usually work... well sometimes! :S

I tried watching Gone In 60 Seconds
but it made my brain go numb.

numb arms
That happens with my arms occasionally; often enough that it doesn't bother me. I just move the offending arm, with the other arm, and the circulation comes back. I'm always surprised by how heavy a numb arm is.

I somehow make both arms go totally numb
I regularly wake up face down with both arms under my torso, which can be a bit of a bitch when the radio alarm is blaring out at 5 in the morning and all i can do is swing my arms randomly at it like some sort of emo dancing.
My wife can now dive across the bed, hit the off button, call me a twat and go back to sleep in one smooth action.

Both me and one of my housemates
Have spent so long on the shitter that we've got numb legs. The worst part is that our bog is just far enough away from the lounge for your legs to give. So you end up sitting in a heap on the lounge floor until one regains control of ones limbs.

Hooray!
I do this too!

.
I have a similar thing, Sleep Apnea is when you stop breathing on the inhale cycle, a kind of breath in and hold your breath kind of thing. I have the reverse where I will breath out and then stop.

as you can imagine this freaks the missus out who pokes me in the ribs to kick start my breathing.

As someone who has...
...been awake in bed next to a person with Sleep Apnea (or something closely resembling it), I can attest to it being shit-scary.
I mean maybe it's just me but I tend to prefer it when the person I go to bed with is still breathing in the morning...

happens to be sometimes
actually worries me a little bit... how long would the blood flow have to be cut off for before the limb in question drops off? =P

no seriously.

You won't get the limb to drop off,
but if you're lying on something hard you can end up with nerve damage.
