This is a question Darwin Awards

Bluffboy says: My mate cheated death and burned his eyebrows off looking down the barrel of a potato gun. Tell us about your brushes with the Grim Reaper through stupidity.

Lies?
On QOTW?
NEVER!

Who cares?
I'm reading the QOTW to be entertained, not for historical accuracy. If it's a good, well written story then I don't give a damn whether it's all true, all lies or somewhere in the middle.

i dont think anyone would disagree with that
i love a yarn

but there is a difference between 'historical accuracy' and 'a fucking whopper'

i just don't enjoy being told things such as - it was a major news item (IRA bomb attack on a tree at UK school) dont bother googling - didn't happen

i just don't see the need for that - i enjoyed the story and i clicked. i just don't need fake assurances of the story being factual.

you see
its this sort of insightful biting documentary that makes b3tards stand proudly alongside their fellow journalists

*swells*

(possibly with pride)

*attends to swelling*

So what makes this week different?

(, Sun 15 Feb 2009, 14:41, closed)
I don't think they're lies
but my flatmate (Wendy James, formerly of Transvision Vamp) does.

Incidentally, every month she does want my money.

NO
I saw this weeks qtow, and thought my time had come
(, Sun 15 Feb 2009, 17:26, closed)
If only people would have the balls to admit when their stories are made up
It wouldn't make me enjoy them any less, but I would have a lot more respect for the poster
(, Sun 15 Feb 2009, 23:57, closed)
my point
exactly
(, Mon 16 Feb 2009, 6:31, closed)
99% of the time my QOTW entries are one of four things...

True stories but with 'artistic' embelishment (no, that turd was NOT really the size of a slimy brown oil tanker)

Obvious bullshit (cross dressing / paranormal / erotic fiction) all in a rubbish attempt at paying homage to the great Frankspencer

A pun (apologies for each and every one)

A poem (pretty obvious I hope)

Sometimes I dabble with other styles but overall my aim is for it to be easy for people to tell the difference...and if I have nothing in the locker, I don't bother wasting people's time.

My main priority above all is for people to read what I've done and think: 'I'm glad I read that'

I think a few people are now selling their souls to bullshit in order to keep up the momentum.

there does certainly seem a be a few spurious stories here of late
either certain regular posters here have led spectacularly eventful lives thus far or, well, what you said.
