This is a question DIY disasters

I just can't do power tools. They always fly out of control and end up embedded somewhere they shouldn't. I've no idea how I've still got all the appendages I was born with.

Add to that the fact that nothing ends up square, able to support weight or free of sticking-out sharp bits and you can see why I try to avoid DIY.

Tell us of your own DIY disasters.

the previous owner of my house
felt that he could best channel his inner Lawrence Llewelyn‐Bowen by painting the skirting boards dark green, the bedrooms peachy-salmon and the kitchen a vile toilet paper blue. This is how I know that the one-coat paint doesn't always work.

I see your dark green skirting boards
and raise you a sponge painted radiator!

oh no!
Even the dark stained woodwork and the pink nylon curtains he left behind are no match for that!

If that hadn't been enough
I was holding in reserve ....

two layers of woodchip wallpaper, one on top of the other! Both painted!

I raise you
A full 70's avacado green ceramic bathroom...
Tiled everywhere, green toilet, sink, the lot.

@Kaol
That doesn't bear imagining! OK, you win. I was also going to mention the coat rack the previous occupants put up with two short nails, but I know when I'm beaten.

To be fair
I didn't put the bathroom there, it's no fault of my own, but it's still like being trapped in a box of mushy peas.

And I don't like mushy peas.

Even worse...
I've seen a bathroom that's decorated yellow and brown. No, it's not what you think.

ooo! ooo!
Can I jump in with my lovely 35-year old rust carpet that has faded to orange near the windows and patio doors? It's all I've got at the moment.

O yes
Every room in my present house had wallpaper and carpets that made your eyes want to pluck themselves out and run away to a nunnery! Many, many coats of thick paint were needed before I could even bare to move in.

My contribution
When I moved in to my old house the previous occupant had thrown red paint at some areas of the living room wall - the rest were covered in random grafitti. The living room cupboard's interior was a grotesque emo-black gloss. My Mum, who was helping me move, actually cried.

Carpets.
I enter with my home's previous occupant's attempt at carpeting; purple carpet laid over the top of blue carpet, which in turn was laid over the top of grey cording, which had newspapers from 1987 underneath it.

Black
Worst bathroom I've seen was black. Seriously, all black.

Tiles, porcelain, rugs and stuff? Black.
Everything that wasn't black was an unpleasant hue of light powder blue, with the occasional stain.

Wasn't even nice black, I think he actually painted it, rather than them already being that colour.
