^This^I was going to post it myself but beaten to it, vaseline suffocates the fuckers. Whether any fellow backpackers would admit to carrying around vaseline in a hot country is another matter.

Nope, they don't need much air so can survive for ages.Tweezers as close as you can get with a steady pull is all that's needed.
