This is a question Faking it

Rakky writes, "We've all done it. From qualifications to orgasms, everyone likes to play 'let's pretend' once in a while."

So when have you faked it? Did you get away with it? Or were your mendacious ways exposed?

Peace Time
The whole world seems to be faking it.

Wake up everyone! We are now almost severn years into world war three. Surely someone else must have noticed it, or is it just me?

The war against terrorism
is hardly a real war.

OMG gay terrorists from iraqistan r gonna get ur kidz!!one!!!1!!!eleventy!!
The war on terrorism/pedophiles/etc is nowt but a cover story. The real war is a sort-of- but not-so-subtle assault on civil liberties.

As for faking it? I try to fake nonchalance but I'm very much aware of and afraid of the fact that I'm [damn near completely] surrounded by morons; gullible, gormless twats who won't twig the slip into tyranny and spookery until the brain-chips start to malfunction.

Stop the world please, I'd like to get off now.

wars
are rubbish now. WWII looked way better. 'specially that bit on the beach when they invaded France. And when Tom Hanks went under the water a bit and came up and ooh bullets everywhere.

What's that quote again?
"He who would trade a degree of liberty for a degree of security would lose both and deserve neither." Or something like that. Anyway, could someone clue me in on who's the goodies and who's the baddies? I'm lost.
(, Sat 12 Jul 2008, 15:17, closed)
Well basically
the Baddies have penises

the goodies don't
(, Sat 12 Jul 2008, 16:51, closed)
Well I don't know about the baddies,
But these are certainly the goodies:

AHA!
I was actually thinking about Bill Oddie when I typed that (I never thought I'd use THAT sentence). I dunno though, Lindy England never had a penis, apart from that one she cut off that iraqui POW that is.

US Civil War 2
Detroit is due a nuke in less than 2 years.

This timeline is about 18 months out of synch with the base reference but it's following the standard pattern pretty closely.

Obama gets elected, US foreign policy pretends to turn all pink and fluffy whilst actually just stealing and hoarding all the oil it can get its hands on. The suburban areas of the USA start to die off as fuel prices rise and the cost of living skyrockets anywhere outside a self sufficient commune or within walking distance of your place of work.
Revolts are ruthlessly put down by the rapidly weakening central government and then it really kicks off big style.

The "War on Terror" is indeed the first shot in this one, and the bad guys are firmly in wall street, as ever.

I don't think the US is quite as liberal as it would like to think it is. Obama's chances are greatly reduced simply because he is black. Of course everyone hopes we've come a long way from the world of racism that existed even 50 years ago, but the reality is that the closer to the election we get, the more people are going to start whispering that they don't want a black man in the white house. Hillary was hurt by 2 things: 8 years of Clinton scandal and being a woman (though people were willing to ignore the Clinton scandal stuff, they just couldn't get past the being a woman bit). As long as McCain doesn't die first, he is most likely to win.

Maybe in another 20 years the country as a whole will be willing to look past gender and race. Right now though, those things still play a big part in the political choices people make here.
