You can make a case for his turning into the new Mary Whitehouse. Not quite as scary and outright wrong-headed but just as censorious (he has actually rallied support for other journalist's work to be "disappeared" in the name of political correctness - he is an enemy of free speech).

His endless tirades outlining how violent he feels like getting toward various people are really, really dull too.

I personally think calling him "an enemy of free speech" to be blowing the situation out of proportion but, as a fan of Mr. Brooker, I would be unable to totally deny accusations of bias.

However I do find Jan Moir's article to be in very poor taste and feel it contains a rather homophobic subtext, and although I wouldn't join a call to arms attempting to ban it, I would have felt justified in registering my distate at the time of publication. (I didn't, incidentally)

Anyhoo, at least people can have a read and make up their own minds

I actually think he's bang on in his "Newswipe" series he's had going recently. I share most of the opinions on it. But that's because I'm not a fan of the media.

I agree
even though I agree with his views a good deal of the time, and he writes very wittily. There's something rather heart-sinking about his Guardian column, however brilliantly it's put together. It's the unrestrained cynicism I can't stand. By all means slag something off amusingly, but when it becomes your raison d'etre you need to take a look at yourself in the mirror and ask if this is what you want to be remembered for.
