This is a question Fantasists

Eddie Spunkbubble says: I used to know a sad case who fancied himself as a bit of a 007 and bragged that he always carried a loaded 9mm pistol in his attache case "just in case". Overheard by an off-duty copper, he was asked to make good on his claim. A packed lunch, red face and a stern warning "not to act the twat" and he never did it again. Tell us of Walter Mitty types.

Then you probably are one.

I couldn't give a shit about the football either way,
but as I understand it, England have almost no chance of winning the world cup and your average England fan believes that England has almost no chance of winning the world cup, so I don't understand where the fantasist part comes into it.

I got asked to play for England but I was too busy inventing nucular powers and shagging that popstar that you like.

Pharrell Williams?

(, Mon 9 Jun 2014, 14:03, closed)
Wow, I can't believe you've shagged Mick Hucknall.

That reminds me.
Right Said Fred asked me to remind you about their restraining order against you.
(, Mon 9 Jun 2014, 14:37, closed)

unexpected sausaging ahoy

I dunno, that looks more like you giving lots of shit.

Actually, I like some kicksport myself and I was only being facetious, I didn't realise it would have to stand up to cross examination.

More fool me though right?
(, Mon 9 Jun 2014, 14:06, closed)
Nope, I'm rather pleased that the only evidence I've seen that it's even happening
is a story on the news about the public transport strikes in Rio, a sign outside the Irish bar down the road and two cars with little English flags on them. God bless America.

Well it's good you're not actively looking for stuff you have no interest in. And also keeping count. That is healthy.

Why not make a list as well? I have one just like it, it is entitled "CUNTS!!!1".
(, Mon 9 Jun 2014, 14:19, closed)
I know I should stop now, but I can't help it.
I'm not actively looking for stuff, I just have this thing called memory. When you live in a forrin land and see the flag of your own country on the two cars in front of you at the lights, you tend to notice. The news story was this morning, and I walked past the Irish bar on Saturday and have eyes. There are probably more things that have happened, but I wouldn't know as I'm not actively looking or making a list.

It really is quite nice not to be surrounded by world cup fever. This is the first country I've ever been in where it's not all gone football mental. Now all I need is for people to stop talking constantly about Miami Heat making the play offs, and every other news story being about LeBron James. I'm as interested in the bounce ball as I am in the kick ball.

There was a college game of ruby on in the bar last weekend, which would have been nice, but it was VII's which is shit.

Are you basing your theory about England supporters not being bothered by the World Cup
on observations taken in America?
(, Mon 9 Jun 2014, 15:41, closed)
I don't have a theory about England supporters not being bothered about the world cup.
I have a theory that England supporters think that England is very unlikely to win the world cup which I have formed based what I've heard in the seven world cups that have taken place while I've been in England.
(, Mon 9 Jun 2014, 16:09, closed)
The English? Pessimistic?
I would say 'no we're not' but isn't that playing into my own hands?

A pessimist is never disappointed but an optimist gets invited to more parties.
