Maybe not quite as bad, but I really don't like needles in the gums. Last time I went to the dentist (about 3 years ago), they said I needed a filling and got the syringe out. I had a moment of panic and told them to do it without the anesthetic - it wasn't that bad in the end, only about 30 seconds of pain and no numbness afterwards.
Apparently Gordon Brown had root canal work done with no anesthetic because he had to give a speech later in the day. Hardcore.
