Well...The examples they use include 'kinks' (the boots). Besides I thought the formal definition were kinks you liked, fetishes you couldn't do without.

the formal definition?Not really. That would mean the difference is one of scale, whereas technically there is a qualitative difference.
But probably not for long, seeing as how colloquially there is little pragmatic difference.
