I haven't seen this one mentioned yet...
Idiocracy. Perhaps the most biting satire I've ever encountered. The opening montage is one of the funniest yet scariest chunks of film there is, anywhere.
The concept is that the intelligent people are being out-bred by the morons. A man with an IQ of exactly 100 is put in suspended animation and is accidentally awakened 500 years from now, and is now the smartest person on the planet.
Apparently 20th Century Fox gave Mike Judge the green light, having been told only what I wrote above, but when they saw what he had created they got seriously cold feet. The film was minimally advertised, ran in theaters for one week and then vanished. The DVD came out soon after, and it has turned out to be a pretty successful little flick despite Fox's chickenitis.
Highly recommended.

I love this one
So many quotes to plunder. I have been know to shout "Go away! 'batin'" when people knock on doors.
Unfortunately the core premise is a little too plausible for my liking.

I think FOX were worried about thier core audience being offened
The quote
"what you readin for? are you a fag?"
Sums up the whole dumbing down process

I think you may be right.
Unaware of what year it was, Joe wandered the streets desperate for help. But the English language had deteriorated into a hybrid of hillbilly, valleygirl, inner-city slang and various grunts. Joe was able to understand them, but when he spoke in an ordinary voice he sounded pompous and faggy to them.
This has already begun.

meh
Intelligent people are always being outbred by morons. Do you seriously think that people in the 16th century watched Shakespear/e for anything other than tits and stabbing?

Thats an old eugenics concept
Evolution seen as devolution. It reminds me of this old 50s Sci Fi story 'The Marching Morons' en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Marching_Morons where it proposes a more sinister 'final' solution.
As a refute to that check out Paul Abbott: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Abbott writer of Shameless en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shameless_(UK_TV_series) chav cultcha writ large.
