Might get flamed for this...
When Son of Rambow was being advertised on buses a few months ago, one of the critical notices used ran along the lines that this was the funniest British movie since Hot Fuzz.

Decode that. "Since Hot Fuzz" implies that Hot Fuzz was funnier (otherwise they'd have chosen some other, prior, film like Kind Hearts and Coronets, or said "funniest Brisish movie ever").

In other words, the advert was saying that the film was even less funny than Hot Fuzz.

I didn't go to see it.

I suspect I'm going to get flamed for this, just as I got flamed for insulting the holy memory of Tolkein in the "Books" ( - or was it the "nerds"? I forget - ) QotW. I realise that, in a forum like this, a failure to recognise the (ahem) genius of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost is just about the worst crime possible. Tough. Hot Fuzz was too short on laughs and too long on long. Oh - and, since I'm clearly in blood so untimely steep'd that to go back, t'would be as tedious as to go o'er: Shaun of the Dead wasn't much better.

Film posters
I know what you mean about film posters that say "The best Action/Thriller/Brit Com/Rom Com/Historical Epic/etc/etc/etc since Something not very long ago"

It never really seems that they are trying to entice you to the cinema, but that it is slightly substandard, but in the same genre as something good.

I enjoyed both films
Hot Fuzz wasn't funny at all, but the action sequences were nice, and Shaun of the Dead was amusing at least, better than most of the shite that Hollywood spews out these days.

However, Tolkien, and Peter fucking what'shisface can suck my big, hairy plums.

Hi Enz, how do?

Yo!
I'm good - though I may have to do some w*rk today, prior to vanishing off to France next week...

I'm steeling myself...

Glad to know I'm not the only one
I enjoyed Hot Fuzz as a film, but I didn't actually laugh all that much at that which was hyped as a superb British comedy. Having laughed myself silly at certain episodes of Spaced, I felt a little let down.

Fuck off
you cunt, your mum etc etc.

not really, just felt like doing a bit of flaming. I suspect that kind of flaming has little effect whereas something like, Intelligent Design desrves to be debated alongside evolution as a credible alternative. HAHAHAHAH!!!!!111LOLOLOLMINGE!!!111

As much as enjoying those films for what they were,
the fact I share the same name as 'Simon Pegg' has led to a yearly tradition now when I teach of each group giggling when they hear my name for the first time and waiting until one of them pipes up with...

"Sir... You've got red on you".

oh how I laugh at the originality

Yup
I didn't laugh at Hot Fuzz either, Shaun was a better film, but not by that much.

How can you not laugh...
