Young Frankenstein
I'm my mind, one of the greatest comedy films ever, and, for my money, certainly Mel Brooks' finest moment.

Everything about it is superb. The black and white photography. The re-use of actual sets from the original Universal movies. Marty Feldman as Igor ("it's pronounced Eye-gor"). Madeline Khan looking, well, just all kinds of ace done up as Elsa Lanchester at the end. The completely bonkers scene of the Monster and Gene Wilder doing 'Putting on the Ritz'. And Gene hackman as the blind man.

Love it love it love it! A mate and I would watch it over and over on a grainy old pirate VHS. We wore the tape out in the end. Then he borrowed my shiny new VHS copy a few years back. I haven't seen either of them since...

So True
Best comedy ever. Madeline Khan Is SOOOOOOO Sexy. You seen blazing saddles? similar, western, racist as hell but not quite as funny, but still worth a watch.

Ooh yes
I remember that for a long time this video wasn't available to buy for love nor money.
I am so pleased you reminded me about it and I've just ordered the DVD.
The film is silly and it's hard for me to fathom exactly why it is so funny but wtf, it IS funny and I haven't met anyone in real life that doesn't agree with me.
Over 30 years since the film was released and my friends and I still use quotes from it.

Mel Brooks is a legend.
And this, along with Robin Hood: Men in Tights, is his peak of excellence.

"A black sheriff?"
"Hey, it worked in Blazing Saddles!"

I think it's his second-best film.
Blazing Saddles pips it to the post.

Maladicta: NOOOOOOOO! Robin Hood Men in Tights is awful. Absolutely dreadful. One of the films that really showed that Mel Brooks had just run out of ideas, and should have given up when he was still funny.
