First World Problems
Onemunki says: We live in a world of genuine tragedy, starvation and terror. So, after hearing stories of cruise line passengers complaining at the air conditioning breaking down, what stories of sheer single-minded self-pity get your goat?

People who go on about how abhorrent lying is, and how "truth is stranger than fiction".
Bollocks. That's why we have a movie industry, you stupid tits.
Also, if you're that keen on the truth, have you told your five-year-old child that they could contract and die from cancer at any point in their lives? Of course not. But have you told them about how Santa brings presents at Christmas, though?
Shut up, all of you.

I'd actually argue the opposite of that
What the movie industry does best is it takes stories and then hammers all the strangeness out of them until they're as anodyne and samey as all the other movies. People don't pay to watch strangeness, they pay to watch the couple who almost got together at the start of the movie fall out during the middle part of the movie and then get together at the end.

I pay to watch explosions, slow-mo gun fights, and lens flare.

They made films of those text books I learnt French from?
I bet it did wonders for the La Rochelle tourist industry.

The Santa thing
contains the small print: Caution: present-bringing may be affected by naughty-or-nice behavior.
Take the overall view and tell your kids that Santa will bring them cancer if they're naughty.

My son thinks that Santa doesn't come any more because he died from cancer,
it's amazing how much money I've saved from telling that one little fib.

Good work.
I told my kids that the tooth fairy had been killed by a cat.
Saved me about £15 so far.
