During my second year at Comprehensive, one of my fellow students to fit in claimed to have seen ET the sequel while holidaying in Florida.
His synopsis of the film was that this time Elliot visited ET's planet.

There is a ride in Florida
that has Elliot visiting ET's planet as the storyline. You sit on the bike thing and it takes you around the 'world' so you can see the little aliens and such.
It was pretty cool actually. Maybe he was talking about that?

I can just imagine the situation...
1) Poor little sod, having been on this ride, tells friends all about it.

2) Either he accidentally implies (or they wrongly infer) that it was actually a film.

3) Little tyke gets ribbed mercilessly for the rest of his school career and wonders why no-one will believe a story that he knows for certain is true.
