This is a question Stuff I've found

Freddy Woo writes, "My non-prostitute-killing, lorry driving uncle once came home with a wedding cake. Found it in a layby, scoffed the lot over several weeks."

What's the best thing you've found?

Shoes on motorways
Why? Whenever you get stuck in traffic, there they are on the verge or the central reservation, sprayed with mud and salt. Never in a pair, oh no. The remains of accident victims? Lorry drivers disposing of dead hitchhikers? Wheelie bin police caught you with the lid ajar again so you needed somewhere else to dump your rubbish?

because I've always wondered that as well

umm..*raises hand*
After a fun week of hiking in the desert, and then ankle deep mud after a few thunderstorms and flash floods, my hiking shoes were a bit grim, so I washed them in a motel shower, and stopped off at the Hoover Dam on the way back. It was a hot day, so I put my shoes on the boot of the car, for as to dry off a bit.

And then I forgot they were there. Off I drove. I was surprised that they stayed put for so long (even got "ooh noo a stalker" fear as the car behind me was sitting on my arse and flashing the headlights in an unsuccessful attempt to tell me i was stupid. I finally realized my error when I sped up, and saw my shoes flying away to become sad little "side of road unloved" footwear.

There you go - shoes appear by the side of the road because people are stupid. Unless they are secretly trying to take over the world.

A band I played with once
Got stuck in a jam on the motorway on the way to the gig, so spent the rest of the evening proudly showing us the pictures they took of them naked cavorting round rows of motionless traffic. It's not beyond the realms of poosibility one of them forgot to put a shoe back on.

Oh
It's probably lorry drivers killing prostitutes and leaving a shoe behind.

They all do it you know.

Surely, I'm not the only 8 year old ...
to steal a shoe from a sleeping fellow car passenger and chuck it out the window.

What else are you supposed to do when you've been stuck in traffic for (what feels like) months.
