This is a question Get Rich Quick

Jabboy contacted us because he's skint. So what have you done to make money fast? Did you actually make anything, or were you just ripped off by someone who really was getting rich quick? Did you have to sell your soul?

Reclaiming your previous bank charges.
A couple of years ago, I did jump onto the reclaiming your previous bank charges. And it was the best and quickest £600 i have ever made. It took 2 months in total and about an hour of time going through statements (which I could get online anyway). And just popping letters in the post. A great website, penaltycharges.co.uk had all the letters on there ready to print off, and the exact procedure of what to do. Anyone with a grape instead of a brain could do it.

I was quite shocked how many charges I had acrewed. Plus I also was able to claim interest on it, so it ended up being more. Free money! Yaay.

I did this 2 years ago now as well
And got £4500 back :)

£3700 before interest. Although technically it was my money to being with, that was an extra £800 or so interest I got off them.

I still get charged relatively often, so need to do it again. And then learn to stop racking up bank charges.

Perhaps you can help me with this one.

When you say bank charges, do you mean the £25 fine you get for going overdrawn?

If so, how many times do you have to do that to get charged thousand's that you can claim back? You'd have to be pretty shite with your finances to go overdrawn that many times.

Or are there any other charges you can claim back?

I myself have to pay an 'account fee' of about a tenner a month, but I've done that for years. I don't suppose I can claim that back can I?

Yep, its the £25 they can charge you for going overdrawn, + any other charges they throw at you.

The bulk of mine was when, having lost one job, and before getting another, I had several standing orders going on. Each one that was missed, by bank charged me £30, then an additional £90 per month, and this was componded over several months up to nearly a thousand pounds.

You can claim for up to 6 years worth of charges from the date you begin proceedings, so start as soon as you can.

I doubt you can claim the account fee back, as this is likely something you opted info (natwest advantage gold for example), and as such is not a charge, but a service fee.

OD charges, are fair game. Check out www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk for instructions on getting your money back. Great forum there to help you through it.

However
Because of a court case going through atm, the FSA has agreed a freeze on all claims until the case is resolved.

However, if you'd been charged credit card charges, you can still chase those. I had £425 in CC charges, I got back the lot plus about £120 in interest.

I heard...
...that if you do this then the banks won't touch you with a barge pole. I know, I know, don't believe everything you hear, but I was just wondering if anyone else had heard/experienced this.
