For the sake of avoiding controversy...
I'm using the "official" UN count.

The "real" figure could be as high as 1.2 million and has been touted to be as low as 35,000.

Whatever way, it's a fucking abherration.

That's 85k people who've been killed in iraq over many _years_. As far as wars go, it's not that bad- there are no trenches or mustard gas. And I'm pretty sure landmines are banned so they're not used (at least openly) by our side.

And how many of the 85,000 were soldiers- trained in combat and prepared to die for their country / beliefs / family? Or people who were otherwise attacking our (admittedly invading) troops?

And anyway, if Saddam Hussein had been killed and then we'd just left (or never gone in and just used some sort of assassin) there would have been a power vacuum- leading to civil war and millions of deaths before it's all resolved.

I don't like the iraq war, but get some perspective. Far, FAR worse wars have been fought and the consequences for half-arsing it would be far, far worse.

Anyway, on the original point of him not questioning his faith in God when the Tsunamis killed people, why should he? It was clearly part of Gods grand design.
