I was given my first
bible at about the age of 8. We all got one at school. I didn't really know what to do with it to be honest. Some other boys said it would make ace "rizzeler" paper. I didn't know what "rizzeler" paper was. Or "dryed spurn", as in "that rice [on the table] looks like dryed spurn", as in - we're having dinner in the canteen, as in - thank you Lord for thy food.
Anyway I read it; it was shit.

But don't expect the Bible to tell you how to live or what to believe. It will however give you the solid grounding required to understand western literature and history (no, not because the Bible is an historical book, it's not but loads of people have and do follow it religiously, funnily enough).
The Bible is a book.
Faith is in your head.
Religion is something that people do at the weekend.

To be fair though
Unless you're the sort of person that's looking for the "psychology of people that follow the bible", it's a pretty shitty book to read, compared to what's on offer from Waterstone's at the moment.
It's like having to read L.Ron Hubbard in order to understand Scientologists. Not very desirable.
I do, however, respect your opinion, I just think there aren't enough people that would be dedicated/intelligent enough to get the information from it that you do.
