Things I've gone off
Spimf says: I've always enjoyed listening to Pink Floyd, but lately I've noticed if my iPod plays any of their tracks, I skip them. I'm starting to realise I've gone off them. What have you gone off lately?

However Captain Hood-Butter's 'the Floyd' tribute band 'Blue Haze' were and I am almost certain still are the very finest entertainment in the known world.

This is clearly nonsense
They created several of the greatest albums of all time, including one which is regularly voted the greatest of all. So by any sensible objective measure, you are wrong.
You're entitled not to personally like them, of course. That's not the same thing.

A perfect illustration of why Floyd fanboys are such insufferable bent cunts.

I'm with flatfrog on this
Sure, there may be bits of albums that aren't good, but compared to a huge amount of music, their output is creative and original.

They can be influential and still be shit.
See also: The Beatles.

What people also forget to mention is that most of the bands they influenced were also utter shit.
It's like claiming Stalin was great because he inspired Mao and Castro.
Floyd must be great ... they gave us Rush and My Bloody Valentine. Yeah. Ta.

Muse are proper objectively shit though.
It's impossible to like them if you're older than 19, and at that age your opinion is worthless anyway.

And that's fucking stupid too.
The Beatles are objectively great by the same measure. So are U2 despite the fact that I can't stand them.
I'm not saying that things have to be popular to be great. Obscure and/or complex and difficult things can also be great, although even there I'd say there has to be some kind of consensus, even if it's only a consensus of critics and other experts. But 'The Beatles are shit' is just twattish.

I agree
Although I suspect most opinions written on here are just to get a rise out of people.
Family Guy did a good bit on people that slate off popular culture, where Brian said he hated Slumdog Millionaire and Titanic but defended the movie Cocktail. He's a "contrarian" rather than someone with a valid opinion. He thinks (incorrectly) that criticising these things makes him look like the most intelligent person in the room.
I thoroughly expect "Family Guy's shit too" to be the next witticism.

The more angry paragraphs you write on this the more you illustrate the problem.

Other than Relics and Piper at the Gates or Dawn their entire output is utter gash.
The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon are both overblown, pompous heaps of shit, for wanker students

Relics is a compilation album so that's a strange statement
That's like Alan Partridge saying his favourite Beatles album is 'Best of The Beatles'
Anyway, my point still stands. When you don't like something but millions of people do, it's ridiculous to say 'it's shit'. People who say JK Rowling or Dan Brown are 'bad writers' annoy me in the same way.
Since there's absolutely no objective measurement of what constitutes 'good' art, consensus is pretty much the only thing we have to go on. By a wide margin, the consensus is that Dark Side of the Moon is one of the greatest albums of all time. And therefore it is. Even if you hate it.

a compilation album of singles
Singles which weren't on their albums
Singles better than their album tracks.
Still confused?

Not that it matters, but...
Relics is almost entirely made of tracks from Piper and Saucerful. I think the only previously unreleased track is 'Biding my Time'

Hi BraynDedd,
not a huge Pink Floyd fan here either but I think we established a while back that you always say everything is shit, so nobody cares what you think.
