the Joy of Lovejoy
The best bit is when, suddenly out of no-where, lovejoy turns to the camera and gives forth some shite nugget of plot that somehow doesn't seem to be relevant. It just adds a weird situation, not seen before or since, despite how wacky hollyoaks tries to get..

Known in media circles as playing with the "fourth wall"..
..when an actor in a drama turns to the audience unexpectedly. For my money only Monty Python is on a par with Lovejoy for effective use of the fourth wall. Lovejoy is awesome. I frequently start humming the theme tune when drunk and have tried getting the mobile ringtone. Favorite character is Tinker Dill.

tinker is a legend. my mates granddad looked and dressed exactly like him, bow tie and all. we called him tinker funnily enough. he never got it.

Trading Places
The bit where Eddie Murphy's being patronised by the Dukes re pork bellies 'such as you might find in a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich' - Murphy does an understated super-quick eyebrow-raised look to camera that is fucking genius.
