Baird invented the "Television"
which was used exclusively for about 10 minutes before the Italians got there with a much better system, after which point both systems were used simultaneously. Then Baird's one was phased out for being utterly crap.
So Television had already passed its way into common parlance to mean "the picture-radio".

Telephone I have no idea about, I thought they did invent it.

They also invented the Fax machine (Wick) and the pneumatic tyre (a guy from Stonehaven).

'England' just sat on it's collective arse and watched the match on TV - it's hardly 'winning the world cup', is it? The only people who should be allowed to boast about it are the footballers who actually played in the fucking match.
