This is a question Why I Love/Hate Britain

This week's been all about the Daily Mail and why people love or hate their country. Tell us one thing you hate about Britain, and one thing about why you love it.

This shouldn't be an excuse for RACISTLOLS, or long lists of things you dislike. Be intelligent, be funny, and be interesting

Where
the hell are you paying £5.50 a pint?

Our nation's glorious capital
Of course if you know where to go, there are cheaper options

You mean if you decide not to drink in a strip club for a change?

I know
where to go when I'm in London - anywhere that isn't going to charge me £5.50 a pint - and that is a hell of a lot of pubs.

It is expensive
but I've lived in London for 8 years, and have been to expensive places, cheap places, etc. no one's ever tried to charge me £5.50 for a pint. You must have been in somewhere especially ridiculous.

I'd say the Central London average nowadays is probably around £4.10 for decent lager, £3.80 for bitter.

In central London yes
I've been to quite a few pretty ordinary pubs where they have charged stupid money. Not everywhere but it's becoming a lot more common

I was in a Soho pub recently that sold "Camden Gentleman's Beer" or something similar
I thought I'd give it a try, and the barman didn't even blink when he charged me five pounds fucking seventy for a pint. Five pounds fucking seventy, I ask you.

'Gentleman's Beer' = piss

not the Brown Cow in Wyke
during the week you can get pint of bitter for £2.10 there, and lager's £2.20
(, Sun 6 Oct 2013, 0:46, closed)
Lager's £1.89 at my 'local' on a Monday
