This is a question Midlife Crisis

I've hit my forties, and my midlife crisis has manifested itself in old band T-shirts and a desire to go on camper van holidays. How has it hit you, or - if you are still a youngling - your elders?

TVR
No requirement, no skills to maintain, hardly any time to drive it.

Oh man I love those things

Gotta say, it's
only lack of space that stops me from doing the same thing.

I do like those cars, and they're a fucking steal at the moment.

There are also a few MGR v8's around with the 5.1 TVR engine. That must be quite good fun too.

I had one of these in dark metallic purple. The high compression version. I loved that car.

I don't understand
Aren't these for hairdressers?

Not with a 4 litre V8 under the bonnet, no.

Someone's been at your bins...

Love it!
Feel the same about my Z4. I'd love a Lotus 2-Eleven, but that would be really silly. They're a young man's car.

What type of Z4? I had an early 3.0 then upgraded to the M.
The M was great, apart from the horrendous depreciation; ex VAT loss of 45% within 18 months of purchase.

Nice motor, reminded me of when I had this:-

(just the car, not the house)
3 litre straight six and I had it tuned. Used to fly up Wycombe Hill on the M40 in overdrive, overtaking all comers.
Must have been a midlife crisis.

That
Is very nice.. Where is it now?
(, Wed 8 May 2013, 17:46, closed)
No idea. It wasn't this particular one,
just the model and colour.

One of my parents friends had
the Scimitar GTE, which was the first car I ever drove - it was an auto, he used to let us pootle around the private roads of the estate he lived in in it, when I was about 8 or 9.

Also the first car I ever went 100mph in - as a passenger, I might add.

I loved that thing.

Famously Princess Anne drove that model for a while.
The engines were the same as in the police cars on Z Cars (Ford Zodiac) but with the Scimitar's lightweight fibreglass body they were like shit off a shovel.

I almost wrote 'the Princess Ann model'.
twas a good piece of kit.

It's somewhere on my list of might get one one day cars, as they're still cheap as chips, but they were a bit shoddy even when they were new, so not sure about a 30 year old one.
(, Thu 9 May 2013, 9:51, closed)
As you'll know they were made from whatever was
available that happened to fit so yes, they're cheap as chips for a reason. Don't think I'd buy one now.

Caterham 7
Would like to have the weather - the Yokohama 048r tyres do not like the wet.

Those are vile.
Yes, 0-60 in 1 second, faster than a Bugatti Veyron, blah blah blah.

Horrible things.
