I am quite partial to a bit of cheesy 80’s music...
...(only sometimes mind) which is why I found myself on a Saturday night at Club De Fromage in Angel (oh yes, the house of cheese). I was merrily prancing around the dance floor, having fun and singing along when the next song started… diddle diddle diddle diddle… duunnnnnn nuuuuuuh duuunnnnn nunnnnnh… it was non other than Lionel Richie’s Dancing on the Ceiling (did you not get that from my masterful dunnnn nuuuuh’s??), and I did what everyone else in the room did, threw my hands in the air and went ‘woooo’. The only problem was I went ‘woooo’ at the exact moment a girl decided to march through the dance floor holding two massive drinks in a plastic cups up near her face.

Well you know what’s coming… I managed to punch one of the drinks right into her face, the other drink she had lifted out of the way in time over her head, sadly I think the shock of one cup hitting her made her drop the other one which proceeded to land also all over her face. I did apologise (and still feel quite bad about it) but I don’t think she heard me as her ears were full of vodka and red bull and she had legged it to the toilets to do a make-up check I presume.

The moral of the tale, look before you throw your hands in the air, and also don’t carry drinks onto a dance floor when I’m throwing my arms about the place like a Whacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man! Oh yes!

I knocked myself out once
By attempting to dance on the ceiling when said song came on (and I hate cheesy 80s music, I just happened to be somewhere playing it)

Witness reports later revealed that I'd attempted the hitherto unutilised dance move comprising half a front flip into a headstand (apparently I landed square on the top of my head from about 2' above the floor), followed by sparking myself out and being sick over myself in the process. I'm a well good dancer.

Don't be foolish kids, try and give gravity a bit of respect. And try not to mistake shitty 80s pop singers' even worse metaphors for actual truthfulness vis a vis being able to dance (or indeed walk) on ceilings.

username1: proving science right with the aid of empirical evidence since 1979.

Edit: Oh yeah, moderate concussion and steaming hangovers are best experienced discretely.

flim flam
flim flam I do believe that correct 'disco' etiquette regarding what to do with ones hands and the surrounding air is to... and I quote,

"throw your arms in the air like you just don't care"

Should another disco dancer happen to constrict this in any way and find themselves , black of eye, bloody of nose, or bathed in booze, it will hold up well in any court that he, or she, who has their hands in the air like they just don't care will have the just right of way..

just wanted to clear that up considering the amount of similar arm waving incidents that have been reported to date...
