If he's going to learn scratchinghe'd do well to get some of DJ Swamp's DJ tools records - they have the same noises looped over and over again so that if (when) the records skip, you don't lose your place. You will thank me for this advice as it will make the whole experience a great deal more listenable.
Of course if he's just going to blend house records you should just piss in his mixer and call him 'the last airbender'.
