RIP Don van Vliet
Some may have noticed my sig for the past few months has been "open up another case of the punks". This is a lyric from Ashtray Heart by Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band. www.youtube.com/watch?v=82gyb0cFJ20

Captain Beefheart (van Vliet) was one of the best and most original song writers ever. I was lucky enough to see The Magic Band live a few years back. It featured members from several various incarnations of The/His Magic Band. After the gig I managed to speak to Denny Wally and Gary Lucas. Captain Beefheart's last album was released in 1982 and he retired to the Mojave Desert to paint. I'm impressed he managed to live to 69 with MS to be honest.

Anyone else care to talk about how amazing his music and voice were?
