I'm building a computer
just as soon as I find my favourite screwdriver. I don't really know what I'm doing.

My current order goes:
power supply
attach cpu/sink to motherboard
motherboard goes in case
harddrive
dvd drive
memory

WIN!?

do you computer people spot any obvious mistakes here?

Should be alright, can't think of anything else except maybe graphic/sound cards if not built into mobo.

Mobo heat gel?

what?

phew
sound card/graphics is onboard I think, it's the order I'm a bit bothered by - especially whether the processor goes on before you put the motherboard in. The rest is just sticklebricks, right? I've done on before, but it was 10 years ago

Haven't done it in yonks, but pretty much, you can't put something where it doesn't go 'cus it won't fit.

Power it all up to make sure it works before you put it in the case though.

tits!
no heat sink paste - where do you get that shit from?
(, Tue 28 Dec 2010, 11:53, Reply)
That's what I meant by the heat gel =)
I think your best bet is somewhere like PC World, or if you have a local independant place. I can't say weather I know the likes of curries/dixons would have the stuff.

Most new heatsinks have some on when you buy them
Worth a check
