Bah
I finally get home and you've all fucked off. Typical!
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:18, 6 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
I'm still here.
And I'm done. Fini. Caput. End of.

Ended with some sentimental bullshit about how everyone loves the Aeneid and it's the BEST BOOK EVER.
I hate it so much.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:20, Reply)
Wooo!
Did you manage the last 400 words or have you just gone 'fuck it' and summed up short?
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:24, Reply)
I did write around 400 more
which brings the total, ex. bibliography, to 4138, just under 5% over the word limit, whihc I think is quite nice. It's a nice looking number.

Haven't read it through. Do. Not. Care.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:26, Reply)
4000 words is quite brutal for an essay
I think the maximum we ever had, bar dissertation, was 2500. I was always short...
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:28, Reply)
I was short on the other one, 3603 in the end
I think they penalise you if you're less than 10% under or more than 10% over. Right close to the bone there.

The thing is, lectures start tomorrow, so I can't even relax a little :(
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:31, Reply)
That's a bit harsh!
just think, it's only 4 weeks til your reading week, right?
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:33, Reply)
We've had christmas to do the essays in, though.
Charmander finished hers on Friday, so had the weekend to wind down. But I did have two essays, after all.

Yeah, I'm exited- going to Belfast for a wedding at the very beginning, going to Oxford at the very end. This whole week would be easier if I had a day off this term, though :(
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:37, Reply)
You've still got weekends!
And surely you aren't in lectures 9-5 Monday - Friday?
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:48, Reply)
You have an excellent point. Thursday;s basically free as I'm in 4-6 and then will probably go the gym afterwards.
Tomorrow's lecture is 2-4, but I'm probably going to get to the library at 12, print it out, hand it in, then go and look at a few of the poems in the meantime.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:50, Reply)
*rolls eyes*
Ah, to be a student again!
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:53, Reply)
It's killing time until I have to be a proper member of society.

(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:56, Reply)
You're in your second year, right?

(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:00, Reply)
Yurp, of a 3 year course.
Doing probably one of the least practical degrees ever. It does mean I can read statues and shit. And bits of a third of the Rosetta stone. If I squint.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:02, Reply)
Life skills there love.
do you know what you want to do afterwards?
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:03, Reply)
No bloody idea.
Going to apply for an internship at the BM, see if curatorship is the life for me. Other than that I'd imagine I'd like to do further study. No matter how much I've bitched about it, I've loved the topic of the essay, as it centres around my favourite stuff.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:05, Reply)
Working at the BM
sounds freaking awesome. Or you could become one of those cardigan wearing academic types that time team consult, which would probably be equally awesome. What kind of further study is open to you? (I know nothing about PhDs/MA type stuff for humanities)
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:14, Reply)
See if I could skip
all the pesky bits of academia like having to know stuff, I would love that
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:17, Reply)
Considering possibly a Theology if I want to outside my department
I could do Classics, or possibly Byzantine Studies. The Eastern Roman Empire is fucking amazing, it's my favourite. That and the Early Church. They're very interlinked.

I certainly would love to do an MA, but I probably have to get a first or a high 2:1 overall to be in with any real chance. Last year I got a mid 2:1, but that was in some dark times, so maybe if I buck my ideas up I can do better this year.
Kind of looking foward to the dissertation. Provided I work hard on it.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:18, Reply)
Still here
Shit company at the moment though.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:21, Reply)
Here until 10
On the 12 hour rule.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:22, Reply)
Not even I have ever been on here
for 12 consecutive hours!
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:25, Reply)
That's not the 12 hour rule.
I can't start work if I've drunk alcohol in the last 12 hours.

I book on at 10 tomorrow.

Oh I see
Why's that/what do you do?

Just bunged an edit in there.

I'm trained to use the breathyliser and it'd not look good if I was emitting alcohol fumes at the time.

Haha!
no, not really...
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:37, Reply)
TD - do you spend most of your working day shouting
'I'll get you Butler!'

Just askin' like.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:38, Reply)
Yes
I shout it constantly.

Despite being on maintenance scheduling.

I shout it Sainsbury's too. Because I feel empowered to do so.

Although I'm going to the shops in a minute. I've had my chicken dinner and now I really fancy a Fab ice-lolly, so that's what I'll buy.

Anyone want anything when I'm there?
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:37, Reply)
20 Rothmans, lad.
Money's in the post.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:38, Reply)
Gotcha.

(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:39, Reply)
A cold diet coke and a packet of Malteasers.

No problem.
Want any crisps?
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:42, Reply)
Ooh, Flamin' Hot monster munch. Beef will do.
Don't bother if it's only pickled onion.

Oh, and 20 Marlboro Bright Leaf.

Hankering for an ice lolly in January
and furthermore going to the shop with the expectation that they will have any!
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:44, Reply)
I'll report back shortly.
I'm heading off there now!
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:45, Reply)

I got 8 Fab ice-lollys for £2.13

I'll have one of them now and keep the rest in the freezer.

I'm very happy for you
Fabs are the ones with hundreds and thousands on, aren't they?
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:04, Reply)
Yeah.
They are, as the name suggests.

Lovely.

EDIT: Just found out, FABs are for girls. :(

I hate to break this to you
but I've never really liked them. I'll have a fruit pastilles lolly or a solero any day over one of those. Or a magnum. Mmmm.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:10, Reply)
I want one of those
milky ones. Mini milks?
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:10, Reply)
I fucking love mini milks
Lush as fook.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:13, Reply)
The chocolate mini-milk is horrible.
Are you sure you'd not rather something else?
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:13, Reply)
I don't think I liked the chocolate one, either
was there a strawberry one, I like strawberry
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:16, Reply)
There was a strawberry, I seem to remember. I liked it.
I didn't dislike the chocolate one, either.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:18, Reply)
Mini milks are amazing
I might go and have a couple of ice pops. No calories, and I need a drink.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:13, Reply)

aren't they full of sugar?
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:23, Reply)
Yes, but ONLY
and I mean ONLY, the white ones. The others are rank.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:16, Reply)
The fact the mini-milk is the most phallic of all the frozen deserts on a stick.
And the fact that Crunchy, Bella, Lampy and berk are suddenly 'wanting' one, tells me a story.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:19, Reply)
Lush, cheap, low in calories.

(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:22, Reply)
And available in 3 flavours.

(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:24, Reply)
I can think of at least 10.

(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:26, Reply)
Really?
Name 'em!

10 flavours of mini milk?
Get out!

I don't
so that throws the theory out of the water
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:22, Reply)
You probably want a rocket lolly.

(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:22, Reply)

Mmm, onion rings
now I could definitely go for some of them. I remember the grillsteaks, but not the advert. This advert, though: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ksmb6iwPZYo

I too remember that ad!

Bloody hell
I do remember this one, just about. I used to sing it to my mum in the post office when she was picking up the child benefit and I knew if I was cute I'd get a chocolate bar out of her, I couldn't have been older than 4...
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:37, Reply)
So your chocolate addiction started at an early age yes?
You probably don't remember this one, it was banned (I think) for it gave kids nightmares.

Nope, I remember this one too
I used to hide behind the sofa. It's fucking creepy. It's not as bad as this one though, this one apparently used to make me burst in to tears:

I might get chips later
I only want a few

What will you do with the chips you don't want?

(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:37, Reply)
Be strong!
is it possible to buy 'a few' chips?
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:38, Reply)
I've never eaten a whole thing of chips
so it'll be easy to chuck them in the bin haha
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 23:02, Reply)
Pfft
the likelihood of me getting a mini milk is vastly greater than the likelihood of me getting laid any time soon.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:24, Reply)
Can you make them with your ice-cream maker?

(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:29, Reply)
What, men?
sadly not. Frozen milk, however, probably doesn't require an ice cream maker.

I'd like an extra day off please, if it's all the same to you. It's been a good balance of busy and bugger all, but I wouldn't say no to some more lazytime.

Three day weekends is the way forward
Or to have Wednesday off as well as the weekend would be great.

I reckon a 9 day week is the way forward
an extra day of work, but also an extra day of weekend.
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 21:56, Reply)
That could work

(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:01, Reply)
I'd be willing to give it a try
or, you know. Just winning the lottery and not having to work at all. Both are equally (un)likely. At least I have something to look forward to for next weekend though, woo!

I'd quite like a weekend I don't have to do college work in
or at least I'm not constantly aware I should be doing it while I do other stuff. But, I suppose that was my career choice
(, Sun 16 Jan 2011, 22:10, Reply)
Wooo for excitement next weekend!
